In honor of making some progress on my German family genealogy project, I decided to share a German Choral Group banner dated 1886. The phrase "Manner Gesang Verein" translates to mean "Mens Singing Club". The embroidery is ornate and heavy, but some of the velvet is shredding here and there.
The style includes both elements of regency and biedermeier design often used in needlework throughout the 1800's.
I will post later about my escapades at the antique show in Baltimore.
