Neoclassic Elements: The Adam Style Swag

I have a tiny hallway that goes to the powder room and master bedroom.  While it is not deep enough to house a piece of furniture, I wanted to put something there.  I have so many benches and chairs around the house I did not want that.   Hallways tend to be dark so I decided to put a mirror there.

Below it seemed like a perfect spot for a finial from Restoration Hardware.  I spotted it and knew I had to have it-- because I can't seem to resist anything with the gracefulness of a neoclassic swag.  I don't care that it is not antique, but that would have even been better, of course!

I realized that I have lots of things with swags on it.  This beautiful federal eglomise mirror is a favorite of mine.  The tiny bit of blue in the border is really nice.

The condition of the eglomise painting is wonderful, no paint loss, etc.

I see this a lot as I exit the bedroom.

This is my new pared -down look in the house.  I am trying a more sparse look to give the house a more updated feel.

I resisted the urge to put sconces on each side of the mirror.   They are in a drawer.     Ok, across the hall you can see a reflection of hunt prints.    I guess that end doesn't feel too sparse!
